Diego Michelotti

Diego Michelotti was an Italian actor and voice actor, born in Trento, Italy, on November 13, 1926. A graduate of the National Academy of Dramatic Art, he built a substantial career as a character actor, appearing frequently in Italian television series and Rai television dramas during the 1960s and 1970s, as well as in film and theatre from the 1950s onward. His on-screen work included roles in productions such as the miniseries Ottocento and the film Il magnifico avventuriero.
Michelotti was also highly active as a voice actor, lending his voice to numerous characters in Japanese anime series dubbed into Italian. Among his most recognized roles in this field are two characters from the 1976 anime series Kashi no Ki Mokku, also known as Pinocchio: The Series. He provided the voice for both Mangiafuoco, the puppet show owner, and La Volpe, the Fox, in several episodes of that series. His extensive voice work in anime spanned a wide variety of other popular titles. He voiced General Gyrgler in Great Mazinger, Minister Galek in Getter Robo, Re Giaguaro and Re Tigre in Tiger Mask, and Ippei Nihira in Tsurikichi Sampei, among many others. His dubbing credits also included roles in live-action productions, such as dubbing actor Gilbert Roland in the Spaghetti Western Between God, the Devil and a Winchester, and he participated in audio dramas, such as a recording about the Lourdes apparitions for the Vatican Radio.
Michelotti was married to the actress Eva Vanicek. He passed away in Rome on May 27, 1986, at the age of 59.
