Kan Tokumaru was a Japanese voice actor and actor, born Kimio Murano on May 26, 1941, in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. He passed away on March 6, 2011. His career in the entertainment industry spanned several decades, beginning in the 1960s with stage performance before he transitioned to voice acting. Over the course of his career, he was affiliated with several talent agencies, including Arts Vision, where he remained until his death.

Tokumaru was known for his deep, resonant voice, which allowed him to portray a wide range of characters, from authority figures and fatherly roles to villains. His filmography is extensive, featuring numerous roles in anime television series, original video animations (OVAs), and video games from the 1970s through the 2000s. Some of his notable anime roles include Pegas in the 1975 series Tekkaman, the Space Knight, and Gaia in the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise, a role for which he became well-regarded among fans. He also provided voices for various characters in the Super Sentai series, such as Grifforzar in Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger.

In addition to his anime work, Tokumaru was active in video game voice acting. He is particularly remembered for his contributions to the Darkstalkers series by Capcom, where he voiced multiple characters including Anakaris, Bishamon, Sasquatch, and Victor von Gerdenheim. He also voiced Oro in Street Fighter III and its updates, and Grandmaster Meio in Strider 2. Another significant role was Junichirou Takagi in The Idolmaster series.

Beyond original animation and games, Tokumaru had a prolific career in voice dubbing (fukikae) for foreign films and television series, bringing international productions to Japanese audiences. He was also an instructor at the Japan Narration Acting Institute, where he mentored and taught a new generation of voice actors, including Kosuke Toriumi and Chiwa Saito. His legacy in the industry is marked by his extensive body of work and the influence he had on his students. Following his death from an illness in 2011, many of his roles were respectfully taken over by other voice actors.
