Asami Tano is a Japanese actress and voice actress affiliated with the agency Amuse, Inc.. Born on February 12, 1987, in Amagasaki City, Hyogo Prefecture, she began her entertainment career as a singer. In 2002, she became the lead vocalist for the vocal and dance group BOYSTYLE, which remained active until 2007. Following the group's disbandment, Tano transitioned to acting and voice work. Her debut in anime came in 2011 with a role as Rin in the series Toriko. The following year, she landed a pivotal role as Akane Hino, also known as Cure Sunny, in the series Smile PreCure!. She reprised the character in numerous Pretty Cure crossover films, including 2018's Hugtto! PreCure Futari wa Pretty Cure: All Stars Memories. Tano's career spans anime, video games, and stage performance. She is an active stage actress. She starred as Mitsuru Kirijo in the stage musical adaptations of Persona 3: The Weird Masquerade and its sequels, and has appeared in stage versions of series like Blue Exorcist and Kuroko's Basketball. In 2018, she was cast in a stage adaptation of The Seven Deadly Sins but withdrew from the production to recover from a thyroid condition. Among her prominent roles is Saki Nikaido in the 2018 original anime Zombie Land Saga. She reprised the role for the second season, Zombie Land Saga Revenge, in 2021. She voices Sarah Kazuno, a member of the rival school idol duo Saint Snow in the Love Live! Sunshine!! franchise, performing both in the anime and at live concerts. Tano's filmography includes a wide range of characters. She voiced Genesis in Sega Hard Girls, Nori in Sword Art Online II, and Chiharu de Lucia in The Pilot's Love Song. More recently, she has taken on roles such as Ninny Spangcole in the Burn the Witch anime and its sequel, Commissioner P in The God of High School, and the character Citlali in the video game Genshin Impact. Her work also includes dubbing foreign content, providing the Japanese voice for Sabine Wren in the Star Wars Rebels animated series. In her personal life, Asami Tano married actor Ryo Kitamura in December 2021, and the couple announced the birth of their first child in December 2022.
