Philippe Catoire is a French actor born on July 3, 1947, in Aubervilliers, France, whose career spans theatre, film, and extensive voice work for animation and live-action dubbing. He trained with renowned coaches René Simon and Jean-Louis Martin Barbaz and built a strong foundation in classical and contemporary theatre. His stage career included work with directors such as Franco Zeffirelli and Jean Le Poulain, and performances at the Comédie-Française in plays by Shakespeare, Molière, Racine, and Beckett.

This theatrical background led to a prolific career as a voice actor, where he became a prominent figure in French dubbing. He is the regular French voice for actors including Tom Wilkinson, Charles Dance, Ciarán Hinds, and Ian McKellen. He is also the official French voice of Darth Vader in the Star Wars franchise since 2013.

In the realm of anime and animated series, Catoire has voiced numerous significant characters. He is the voice of Jérôme Karlstahl in the series 86 and Sebas Tian across multiple seasons of Overlord. In the Baki franchise, he voices both Dorian and Gerry Strydum. He also portrays Le Bâtard in Super Crooks and Batou in Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045. His other anime roles include the Maître du jeu in I'm Standing on 1,000,000 Lives, Hyoe in Black Fox, and Shadowsan in Carmen Sandiego.
