Ferran Llavina

Ferran Llavina was a Catalan actor and dubbing voice artist, recognized in Catalonia for his work on animated series broadcast on TV3 during the 1990s and 2000s. He passed away on November 14, 2023, at the age of 90.
Llavina was best known for his roles within the Dragon Ball franchise in its Catalan-language dub. He provided the voice for the deity Kaito, also known as King Kai, a performance that became particularly iconic for audiences in Catalonia. Beyond this primary role, he voiced several other characters in the same series, including the martial arts master Mutaito, the giant Gyumao (Ox-King), and Doctor Brief, the father of Bulma. He also participated in the film Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods as Kaio-sama.
His voice work extended to other notable animated series dubbed into Catalan. He was a voice actor for The Smurfs (Els Barrufets), Case Closed (Detectiu Conan), and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Les tortugues ninja). He also voiced the antagonist King Wapol in the Catalan version of One Piece.
In addition to his animation work, Ferran Llavina had a career as an on-screen actor, appearing in several television series on TV3, including the soap operas Poblenou, El cor de la ciutat, and Laberint d'ombres. He was also a collaborator on Ràdio Tordera, where he read poetry and participated in radio dramas.
