In a world where dodgeball is known as Tōkyū, the ultimate combat sport, the new generation prepares to take the court. The story centers on Danko Ichigeki, an energetic elementary school girl who is the daughter of the legendary player Danpei Ichigeki. Fueled by her father’s motto to always give one hundred percent, Danko is determined to revive the dodgeball club at the New Tama River Elementary and Middle School, a team that had been disbanded in her father’s era due to a string of injuries. Her journey begins with a powerful secret weapon: the Hakai Tornado, a throw so strong it was honed by repeatedly striking her father’s gravestone.

Danko is joined by a diverse group of allies. Her childhood friend and understanding companion is Chinko Kobotoke, the bespectacled daughter of Danpei’s former partner, who possesses the sharp skills to copy an opponent’s technique after seeing it just once. The team’s gentle and peaceful anchor is Mochiko Etai, a middle schooler whose incredibly soft, plush body can absorb even the most powerful shots. Bringing raw power is Susan Canon, an American-born, sports-obsessed muscle enthusiast who hurls the ball with a shot put style. Rounding out the group is the timid but brilliant elementary schooler Honey Otohana, a self-described loner who initially tries to spy on the team but eventually uses her hacking skills and high-tech drones to create deceptive trick shots.

The series follows the newly formed club as they clash with rival teams, starting with the aristocratic St. Arrows dodgeball club led by Peiko Nikaido, the daughter of Danpei’s former rival who considers Danko her eternal nemesis. As Danko and her friends fight to bring glory back to the sport, they are watched over by the legacy of the past, including an adult Danpei and his best friend Chinnen Kobotoke, now a temple priest, who serve as reminders of the fiery soul that true dodgeball demands. The narrative focuses on the team’s struggle to overcome their school’s troubled history, master new combination plays, and prove that the spirit of Tōkyū burns as bright as ever in the Reiwa era.
