Mitsutaka Oji is a handsome, competent, and respected 42-year-old section chief who appears to be the model of an ideal middle-aged businessman. However, he harbors a secret that contrasts sharply with his stoic exterior: an intense love for cute characters and small, adorable things. Unable to share this passion with his colleagues for fear of judgment, Mitsutaka navigates his daily life quietly treasuring his hobby, finding comfort in merchandise of his favorite character, a dog plush toy named Pug Taro.

The story follows Mitsutaka as he struggles to keep his obsession hidden while managing the pressures of his professional life. His carefully maintained compartmentalized existence becomes more complicated when his nephew, Masumi Nii, returns from America to study at a Japanese university and comes to stay with him. This forces Mitsutaka to hide all his Pug Taro-related goods, leading to a miserable period without his beloved collection. His situation grows even more complex when he encounters Kawai Kenta, an art director who witnessed Mitsutaka at a capsule toy machine, and who shares a similar appreciation for cute things. Additionally, his workplace rival, Wataru Naruto, the irritable head of the neighboring division who secretly loves cats, becomes another potential confidant. The series depicts the gentle, humorous journey of these characters as they navigate their hidden passions and gradually find connection with others who understand their secret loves.
