Description
Shippō is a kitsune orphan who initially pursued vengeance after the Thunder Brothers killed his father over a Shikon Jewel shard. Following Inuyasha and Kagome's assistance in defeating the Thunder Brothers, he joined their group as a loyal companion, eventually viewing them and later Miroku and Sango as surrogate family. He often lightened tense moments through pranks and cheeky comments directed at Inuyasha, demonstrating courage to protect allies despite an initial tendency toward cowardice. His abilities encompass shapeshifting, creating illusions, generating fox-fire magic, and employing toy-based attacks like a giant spinning top. Physically, he resembles a young boy with fox-like features including pointed ears, a fluffy tail, and fangs, typically dressed in a turquoise leaf-patterned coat and hakama pants.
Fourteen years after Naraku's defeat, Shippō resided in Kaede's village while training to advance through the fox demon examination system, aiming for the 25th rank. He progressed to the 7th senior rank by his fourth exam, occasionally leaving the village for further training. Six months later, he protected Sango and Miroku's children, Kin'u and Gyokuto, during Root Head's attack.
Eighteen years after Naraku's defeat, Shippō became an instructor at a fox demon school, teaching young kitsune to prepare for their promotion exams. He temporarily stalled in his own rank advancement but continued his training. He often disguised himself as an elderly fox demon to command authority in the classroom, though he preferred his original childlike form and had not used it in some time. He dedicated significant effort to locating Inuyasha and Kagome after their disappearance, utilizing advanced magic like the "Up, Up, and Away" spell to teleport to locations tied to their memories, such as the Bone-Eater's Well.
During the conflict against Kirinmaru and the Grim Butterfly, Shippō transported himself to the site of Sesshōmaru and Kirinmaru's confrontation. He aided Takechiyo in escaping with the Black Pearl and later facilitated the reunion of Inuyasha, Kagome, and their allies. He coordinated with Sango and Miroku's family and participated in the final battle against the Grim Butterfly. Throughout this period, his combat skills evolved to include high-level fox magic, and he maintained his role as a mediator and protector within the extended group.
