Description
Conrad is introduced as the former captain of the Capulet Guards who plays a pivotal role in the history of Neo Verona. His most significant act occurs fourteen years before the main story, during the brutal coup that saw the ruling Capulet family slaughtered by the Montagues. Conrad single-handedly saves the infant Juliet Fiammatta Ars De Capulet from the massacre, also rescuing her companion Cordelia, thereby ensuring the survival of the Capulet bloodline. Following these events, he changes his vocation and dedicates his life to the protection of the hidden princess, serving as a priest while living in secrecy beneath a theater run by a sympathetic playwright.

In terms of personality, Conrad is characterized by a deep sense of wisdom, calm, and unwavering loyalty. He is a man driven by careful and deliberate goals, devoting his entire existence to the restoration of the Capulet family's honor. While he is resolute in his duty, he can also be stubborn and often finds himself exasperated by the antics and rebellious nature of a teenage Juliet, who frequently sneaks out from the safety of their hiding place. His motivations stem from a profound feeling of having failed to save the rest of the Capulet family, and his primary purpose becomes correcting that failure by protecting Juliet and returning the throne to her.

Conrad's role in the story is that of a guardian, mentor, and strategic leader for the Capulet loyalist faction. On Juliet's sixteenth birthday, he takes the crucial step of revealing her secret heritage to her, presenting her with the ancient sword of the House of Capulet. This act formally initiates her into her role as the heir and figurehead of the resistance. As the conflict escalates, Conrad becomes the de-facto leader of the resistance movement, planning a strategic assassination attempt on the tyrannical Lord Montague, aiming specifically to kill the Duke in hopes of minimizing further bloodshed during the inevitable uprising. His loyalty and tactical role are put to the test when he is betrayed by his old friend, Camio, leading to a Montague raid in which he is severely injured. Following his recovery, he continues to serve as a key figure, and after the eventual defeat of Montague, he is responsible for directing the search for the missing Juliet.

Conrad's key relationships center on his protective bond with Juliet, whom he raised in disguise as a boy named Odin to keep her hidden from their enemies. He works closely alongside his two allies, Francisco and Curio, who also survived the original massacre and assist in the plan to keep Juliet safe and to eventually restore her to power. His trust is deeply betrayed by Camio, a former friend whose actions lead directly to Conrad's injury and a significant blow to the resistance. After his injury, he is cared for by a character named Ariel. In the final days of the conflict, he is evacuated from the castle and is last seen tending to a memorial with Antonio, a younger supporter, reflecting on the difficult choices made on Juliet's behalf.

Throughout the narrative, Conrad demonstrates notable abilities as a capable and skilled swordsman, proficiently wielding his blade in battle to protect his charge and further his cause. His leadership and military planning skills also define his character, as he strategizes the movements and major operations of the Capulet faction. In the end, he shows significant development as his long-held thirst for revenge is tempered by introspection. In the finale, he quietly wonders if his past actions in guiding Juliet were ultimately fair to her, acknowledging the heavy moral weight of a life dedicated to a single, violent purpose.
