Dragon Shiryu, the Bronze Saint of the Dragon constellation, balances calm resolve with formidable strength and unshakable devotion to Athena. Mentored by Libra Dohko at Lushan’s Five Ancient Peaks, he proved his mastery by reversing a waterfall through sheer Cosmo control, securing the Dragon Bronze Cloth—a relic hardened over centuries in mineral-rich waters, its shield and gauntlet famed for impenetrable defense and crushing strikes.
His Galaxian Wars debut against Pegasus Seiya spiraled into a lethal stalemate, narrowly averted when Seiya reignited his fading life force by striking his heart. Shiryu’s relentless self-sacrifice emerged in later clashes: he drained his own blood to mend allies’ Cloths, surviving only through Aries Mu’s intervention. Confronting Perseus Algol’s petrifying gaze, he gouged out his eyes to prevail, later reclaiming sight by awakening his seventh sense against Cancer Deathmask. The Poseidon conflict saw him channel the Excalibur’s spirit to shatter Chrysaor Krishna’s spear and pillar, temporarily surrendering his vision once more.
In the Hades arc, Shiryu ascended further, unlocking the eighth sense to traverse the Underworld. Anointed with Athena’s divine blood, his Cloth evolved into the radiant Dragon God armor, pivotal in vanquishing Hypnos and Thanatos. Beyond mythic battles, he adopted Shoryu, journeyed to the 18th-century Holy War, and in *Saint Seiya Omega*, embraced family life with Shunrei and son Ryūhō. Though an accident stripped his senses and forced retirement, he resurged in the Libra Gold Cloth during the Pallasite crisis.
His combat prowess blends the devastating Rozan Shō Ryū Ha technique with tactical deployment of the Libra Cloth’s arsenal. Across eras, Shiryu’s legacy is etched in repeated sacrifices—spilling blood, enduring blindness, and courting death—each trial a testament to his unyielding will to protect Athena’s sanctity.
