OVA
Description
Akira Fudo began as a passive, sensitive Japanese teenager living with the Makimura family after his parents moved abroad. His emotional nature and tendency to cry easily earned him childhood nicknames like "crybaby." He formed a sibling-like bond with Miki Makimura and a deep friendship with Ryo Asuka, though later adaptations revealed their shared history involved implanted memories.

A turning point came when Ryo revealed the existence of demons and orchestrated Akira's fusion with the demon Amon during the Black Sabbath ritual. This transformation granted Akira superhuman abilities—enhanced strength, speed, reflexes, flight, energy projection, fire breath, regeneration, teleportation, and limited telepathy. Despite gaining demonic physiology like claws, wings, a tail, and heightened aggression, he retained his human consciousness and empathy due to his pure heart, becoming the hybrid entity Devilman.

Post-transformation, Akira's personality shifted. While still compassionate, he exhibited increased confidence, perverse tendencies, and fierce determination to protect humanity from demons. His human form grew taller and more athletic, featuring distinctive dark eyeliner and wilder hair. His Devilman form varied across media, often displaying blue-gray or red skin, fur-covered legs, bat-like wings, and antennae.

Akira's core motivations centered on his love for Miki and loyalty to Ryo. However, Ryo was revealed as Satan, an angel orchestrating the demonic invasion. After Ryo publicly framed Devilman as a threat, humanity descended into paranoia, resulting in Miki and her family's murder by a mob. Witnessing Miki's death shattered Akira's faith in humanity, driving him to vengefully kill her attackers and marking his emotional breaking point.

In the apocalyptic war between demons and humans, Akira fought, assembling other Devilmen as allies. His final battle against Satan ended in mutual destruction, leaving Earth in ruins. Later stories like *Amon: The Apocalypse of Devilman* showed him temporarily losing control to Amon after Miki's death before reclaiming his identity. *Violence Jack* revealed his resurrection by Satan, becoming the titular character locked in their eternal conflict.

The *CB Chara Go Nagai World* OVA featured Akira in a super-deformed (chibi) form within a parallel universe alongside Miki and Ryo. This self-parody confirmed the *Devilman-Violence Jack* connection and featured interactions with characters from other Go Nagai series like *Mazinger Z*, while retaining Akira's core traits and advancing the theme of his cyclical resurrection and battles.

Crossovers such as *Mazinger Z vs. Devilman* and *Cyborg 009 vs Devilman* depicted his alliances with heroes like Koji Kabuto, showcasing Akira's role as a defender against shared threats. His story consistently emphasized themes of duality, loss, and the struggle to maintain humanity amid darkness.
