Ryōichi Tanaka is a Japanese actor, voice actor, and narrator born on January 26, 1947, in the Suginami ward of Tokyo. He is affiliated with the talent management firm Aoni Production. Tanaka is a veteran figure in the voice acting industry, having been active since the early 1970s, and is the elder brother of the late voice actor Kazumi Tanaka.

Tanaka began his voice acting career in 1972 with his first major role as the protagonist Akira Fudo, the titular character in the original Devilman television anime. Over a career spanning more than five decades, he has become known for his versatility, portraying a wide range of characters including rebellious young men, cunning villains, serious middle-aged figures, and elderly mentors. He has also been a regular presence in the long-running Saint Seiya franchise alongside other noted voice actors.

One of Tanaka's most significant and longest-running roles is the voice of Nobita's teacher in the Doraemon anime series. He held this role for 24 years, from 1981 to 2005, on the Asahi Television version of the show. Another defining role from the 1980s is Cancer Deathmask, a Gold Saint in the seminal series Saint Seiya. He first voiced the character in the original 1986 series and has reprised the role in numerous subsequent projects, including the OVA series The Hades Chapter, the film Saint Seiya: The Heated Battle of the Gods, the web series Saint Seiya: Soul of Gold, and the video game Saint Seiya: Sanctuary.

Throughout his career, Tanaka has contributed to some of the most celebrated franchises in anime. In the Dragon Ball series, he provides the voice for the Elder Kaiōshin in Dragon Ball Z Kai and Dragon Ball Super, and also voices Dr. Brief in Dragon Ball Super. He appeared in the original Tiger Mask anime as Kentarō Takaoka and later reprised the role in the 2016 sequel, Tiger Mask W. He also appeared in Baki Hanma as Warden Michael Halls, in One Piece as Captain Moore, and in Street Fighter II V as Charlie Nash. Tanaka's other notable anime roles include Warsman in Kinnikuman, Rocky Andor in Fang of the Sun Dougram, Kurotora in Silver Fang, Brainstorm in Transformers: The Headmasters, and Zensou Saeki in Koi Kaze.

Beyond anime, Tanaka has an extensive filmography in tokusatsu dramas. He provided the voice for Crustata Palleo in the original Kamen Rider series and Kamen Rider V3 in the Kamen Rider SD OVA. He also voiced characters in the Super Sentai series, including Hanging Bell Org in Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger and Counselor Zektar in Mirai Sentai Timeranger, and appeared in Ultraseven and Ultraman Tiga. He is also active in dubbing foreign films and series into Japanese and serves as a narrator for various television programs. In video games, he is known for voicing Colonel Redips in Mega Man X: Command Mission.
