Description
Dan Kouzo is the main protagonist throughout Bakugan Battle Planet, including Geogan Rising. He lives in Los Volmos and co-leads the Awesome Ones (later Awesome Brawlers), creating ViewTube content with friends Wynton Styles, Lia Venegas, and their dog Lightning. His life shifts dramatically during a filming mission at Pinpoint Park on the 12th anniversary of the Great Collision when a second Collision triggers the Hide Matrix phenomenon. This event leads to his first encounter with his primary partner Bakugan, the Pyrus Dragonoid nicknamed Drago.

He has Caucasian heritage, an athletic build, medium height, apricot skin, blue eyes, and spiky brown hair featuring a distinctive natural red streak. His modern urban attire typically includes red sneakers, gloves, knee pads, a red t-shirt, a dark red cropped jacket, and dark blue jeans with reinforced knee patches.

Dan embodies optimism, intensity, and charisma, though initially prone to overconfidence and impulsiveness. As the team's "Talent," he thrives performing for cameras. Athleticism and inclusive leadership come naturally to him, though he doesn't consciously see himself as a leader. A core principle is his insistence on resolving conflicts among friends before sunset, encapsulated by his rule: "The sun doesn't go down until we work it out." He tackles challenges head-on, driven more by curiosity about his own limits than solely winning. Loyalty is paramount, especially toward Wynton and Lia, forged through shared experiences. While treating life as a game, his core motivation is participation, not victory.

His Bakugan journey evolves significantly. Starting with Drago in Battle Planet, he later partners with additional Pyrus Bakugan: Cyndeous joins after Dan protects Mac and Maggie from its uncontrolled attacks and demonstrates honorable conduct against its former brawler Marco. In Armored Alliance, he gains Gillator as another Guardian Bakugan. Geogan Rising introduces Arcleon, a powerful Geogan partner accessed during that season. Drago undergoes multiple evolutions, including Hyper Dragonoid, Titan Dragonoid, Dragonoid Maximus, and elemental forms like Strength Mode, Speed Mode, and Dragonoid Genesis.

Key events shape his development. Early on, he and Drago discover BakuCore abilities during training and share this publicly on ViewTube. He confronts antagonists like the thief Aay and the destructive Rowdy Reds, learning responsibility after initially failing to curb their behavior. When the Rowdy Reds later lose their park to Marco, Dan intervenes; his protection of the children and stand against Marco's cruelty earns Cyndeous' loyalty. He faces anti-Bakugan activist Kravitz, who frames the Awesome Ones for property damage, orchestrates protests to ban brawling, and manipulates Dan's parents. During Geogan Rising, six months after defeating Haavik, he and the team grieve their hibernating Bakugan. A failed attempt to visit Vestroia via an unstable gate precedes Drago's unexpected early return, facilitated by other Bakugan sharing their remaining energy. This season reveals a weakening Earth-Vestroia connection, causing malfunctioning Dromes and Bakugan disappearances after battle losses. New Vestroian Bakugan like Fenneca, Ferascal, Falcron, Sharktar, and Pincitaur emerge, following the team to Earth and causing initial chaos. Dan engages Everett Ray, who streams battles to exploit Bakugan behavior. His role expands when Drago ascends to the Aurelus Bakugan Council, becoming its sole non-Aurelus member.

Dan's brawling style evolves from instinctive power to incorporating greater strategy while retaining boldness. He participates in critical battles against antagonists including Magnus Black, Philomena Dusk, and the forces of AAAnimus, defending his neighborhood and the interconnected worlds.
