Description
The Macrophage in Cells at Work! Code Black is an immune cell that serves as a heavy-armored cleanup crew within a severely unhealthy human body. She is responsible for disposing of dead cells and debris, often wielding large weapons or industrial equipment to carry out her grim work. In contrast to the more motherly depiction in the original series, this Macrophage is fierce, grim, and efficient, treating her duties with a professional detachment that borders on the macabre. She appears as a doll-like figure with fair skin, brown eyes, and braided blonde hair, but her outfit consists of heavy armor rather than a simple apron dress. Her personality is cold and no-nonsense; she rarely shows empathy and often looks down on weaker cells, such as red blood cells. She works alongside neutrophils like U-1196 to clear battlefields after infections, though she maintains a distant, professional relationship with them. Her primary motivation is simply to perform her role as a cleaner and immune defender, reflecting the body’s relentless and cold biological processing. As the host’s health declines, her workload increases, but she undergoes little personal development—she remains a symbol of the body’s deteriorating condition rather than a character who changes. Key abilities include phagocytosis, the power to consume and destroy foreign substances, and the use of heavy weaponry to eliminate bacteria and dispose of cellular waste.
