Pikachu features in the animated short "Camp Pikachu" as part of a Pokémon group. The narrative starts when the Pichu Brothers and a Wynaut land near Pikachu and its companions—Totodile, Phanpy, Cyndaquil, Psyduck, Togepi, and Corsola—following an incident with a train and a Skarmory. Reuniting happily with the Pichu Brothers, Pikachu facilitates introductions to the other Pokémon.

Agreeing collectively to help the Pichu Brothers reach a train station, the group embarks on a journey. Pikachu takes part in climbing rocks, eating fruit from trees, and traversing a waterfall propelled by Totodile's Water Gun, showcasing cooperation and playful environmental interaction. At sunset, Pikachu notices Togepi's shadow on a cliff. This inspires Pikachu to move closer to the setting sun, casting an enlarged shadow that briefly startles the others before they recognize the playful intent and respond with amusement.

Later, gathered around a campfire ignited by Cyndaquil's Flamethrower, Pikachu stays with the group while Wynaut and one Pichu Brother investigate a Duskull in the woods. After a momentary scare resolves peacefully, Pikachu observes Duskull's departure with the others. When rain disrupts the campfire, Pikachu requests shelter from a Volbeat, leading the group to an old water mill for the night. Inside, Pikachu sleeps until accidentally awakened by Meowth and Wobbuffet triggering the mill's machinery. Pikachu then collaborates with Volbeat to locate and deactivate the machinery's switch, resolving the disruption.

The next day, Pikachu and the group escort the Pichu Brothers to the train tracks. They coast down a hill on leaves and operate a handcar with help from additional Wynaut and Cyndaquil's Flamethrower. While the Pichu Brothers successfully board the train, Psyduck accidentally redirects the handcar, launching it into the air. Phanpy and Totodile then propel the remaining Pokémon to safety in haystacks. Pikachu concludes the journey by waving goodbye to the departing train alongside the group.
