TV-Series
Description
Drago is a Pyrus Dragonoid and the primary partner Bakugan of Dan Kouzo, one of the main human characters in the series. He is a dragon-like being who first appears on Earth shortly after the second Great Collision, emerging from a pile of mysterious goo and meeting Dan and his friends. From the moment he is discovered, Drago forms an immediate and powerful bond with Dan, becoming his closest companion and most trusted ally in battles against other Bakugan and human opponents.
In terms of personality, Drago is characterized by a noble and true spirit, though he is also overly committed to achieving greatness, viewing himself as a prince on the path to becoming king of all Bakugan. He is extremely selective about his human partner and is generally pleased with his choice of Dan, though not without occasional frustrations. Drago shares many traits with his partner, including impatience, recklessness, and a tendency toward overconfidence, especially when it comes to battling. He is a passionate fighter whose aggressive style matches Dan's instinctive and brute force approach to brawling. Despite his competitive edge, Drago possesses a wisdom that sometimes surpasses Dan's, offering guidance and perspective when his partner becomes too headstrong.
Drago's primary motivation is to constantly battle and train, continuously seeking to become stronger. He feels dissatisfied when unable to engage in regular brawls and actively pushes himself and Dan to pursue new challenges and opponents. His love for combat is balanced by a strong sense of honor and justice, as he refuses to stand by when innocent people or Bakugan are mistreated. On one occasion, Drago protected both his opponents and bystanders from an out-of-control Bakugan, demonstrating that his commitment to doing what is right transcends the usual boundaries of competition.
Within the story, Drago serves as the powerhouse of the Awesome Ones, a group of young brawlers who create content for their online channel while protecting their community. He is frequently called upon to face the most dangerous threats, including antagonists such as the Rowdy Reds, the manipulative Marco Chezanello, the anti-Bakugan activist Kravitz, and rival brawlers like Magnus Black. Drago's role extends beyond mere combat; he is also central to the team's efforts to repair public perception of Bakugan after incidents caused by destructive brawling or outside interference. His heroic actions, such as destroying a falling satellite to save Los Volmos, directly influence public opinion and help maintain the fragile peace between humans and Bakugan on Earth.
Drago's key relationships are most prominently defined by his partnership with Dan Kouzo. The two share an almost telepathic connection, often finishing each other's thoughts and trusting one another implicitly in the heat of battle. This bond is tested and strengthened over time, particularly when Drago must confront his own limitations. His primary rival is Nillious, a Darkus Bakugan partnered with Magnus Black, and their clashes form the backbone of many major battles throughout the series. Drago also maintains friendships with the other Bakugan of the Awesome Ones, including Trox, Gorthion, Howlkor, and Hydorous, though these relationships are sometimes marked by competitive friction, such as when Trox defeated Drago in a three-on-one brawl to settle a dispute with his partner Wynton.
Drago undergoes significant development over the course of the series, most notably in his ability to evolve. Initially, Drago expresses fear and uncertainty about evolution, believing he can only achieve it through external means such as the Core Cell. However, during a critical battle against Magnus Black and his evolved Hyper Nillious, Dan's words of encouragement help Drago overcome this fear. Realizing that there is nothing to fear as long as they are together, Drago successfully evolves into Hyper Dragonoid, a more powerful form capable of matching and surpassing evolved opponents. This evolution marks a turning point in his development, moving from a Bakugan anxious about his potential to one who embraces growth through the strength of his partnership.
Drago possesses a wide array of notable abilities stemming from his Pyrus attribute, which grants him command over fire-based attacks. His signature maneuvers include Twisting Inferno, his standard powerful attack; Flame Wave, his strongest assault; and Guard Sphere, a defensive technique that creates a protective barrier. Other abilities include Tail Crusher, a physical strike using his tail, and Back Draft, which he uses to incinerate targets. As he evolves, Drago gains access to even more formidable techniques. In his Hyper Dragonoid form, he can use Drago's Fury, an ultimate attack, and later, as Titan Dragonoid, he can employ Titan Breakaway to nullify powerful enemy attacks and Inferno Wave, which involves flapping his wings to blast opponents with a dragon-shaped gust of flames. Throughout his journey, Drago also gains access to Baku-Gear, such as the Magma Blaster or Elemental Cannon, which further enhances his combat capabilities.
