Description
Ran Mōri is the daughter of private detective Kogoro Mōri and lawyer Eri Kisaki. Her parents separated when she was seven, and reconciling them remains a persistent goal. She maintains a close friendship with classmate Sonoko Suzuki, who frequently teases her about Shinichi Kudo. Ran serves as captain of the Teitan High School karate club and has won regional championships in her age group.

Ran first met Shinichi Kudo in kindergarten, bonding over paper name badges. Their childhood included shared experiences like sneaking into Teitan Elementary School at night to investigate a monster rumor, encountering the elder Kaitou Kid. During a trip to New York roughly a year before Shinichi's disappearance, Ran and Shinichi encountered Vermouth disguised as a serial killer. When Vermouth nearly fell to her death, Ran caught her arm, leading Vermouth to bestow the nickname "Angel" upon Ran. This trip solidified Ran's realization of her romantic feelings for Shinichi.

Following Shinichi's disappearance, Ran took in Conan Edogawa, introduced by Professor Agasa as a distant relative. She treats Conan as a younger brother, unaware he is Shinichi. Ran has intermittently suspected a connection between Conan and Shinichi, but Conan consistently provided plausible alibis.

Ran exhibits compassion and intensity. She shows deep care for loved ones, patience, and a strong sense of justice. She possesses a quick temper when provoked, often resorting to karate against perceived threats. Early on, she displayed jealousy over potential romantic rivals for Shinichi, though subsequent confessions from Shinichi bolstered her trust. Despite her combat prowess, she harbors an irrational fear of the supernatural, freezing during such encounters. She remains focused on Shinichi regarding romance.

Her self-sufficiency stems from managing household responsibilities for her often-irresponsible father. She handles finances, cooking, cleaning, and client hospitality at the Mōri Detective Agency, ensuring Kogoro maintains professionalism.

Physically, Ran has fair skin, bluish-purple eyes, and long dark brown hair styled with triangular-pointed bangs. She maintains an athletic, curvaceous build, standing approximately 160-165 cm tall.

Her martial arts expertise in karate and judo enables her to break solid objects and incapacitate multiple assailants. She exhibits exceptional strength, agility, and stamina, noted in feats like prying open elevator doors. Beyond combat, she excels in domestic tasks like cooking and sewing, displays musical talent in singing and piano, speaks functional English, and possesses notable luck in games of chance. Her observational skills and memory have aided case resolutions.

Within the narrative of "The Fist of Blue Sapphire", Ran travels to Singapore with Sonoko to support Makoto Kyogoku in a martial arts tournament. There, she encounters Conan, brought to Singapore without his glasses, watch, or regular clothing by Kid. Unaware of Conan's true identity, she interacts with him under the alias "Arthur Hirai", navigating the central mystery involving the titular gem.

Ran and Shinichi share mutual romantic feelings. Shinichi has attempted several confessions, often interrupted. Ran patiently awaits his return despite emotional hardship, trusting his promise to reunite after resolving his cases. Their bond manifests in intuitive connections, such as sensing each other's peril.
