Description
Ran Mori, daughter of private detective Kogoro Mouri and lawyer Eri Kisaki, experienced her parents' separation at age seven, fueling a longstanding desire to reunite them. Her childhood bond with Shinichi Kudo began in kindergarten when he asked for her handmade sakura badge. Elementary school adventures, like investigating rumors at Teitan Elementary, deepened their connection, leading Shinichi to use her first name. A pivotal trip to New York saw her save a disguised Black Organization member from falling, earning her the moniker "Angel" and solidifying her romantic feelings for Shinichi. After his mysterious disappearance, she took in Conan Edogawa, presented as Shinichi's distant relative, treating him like a younger sibling despite recurring suspicions about his true identity sparked by his resemblance and deductive skills—suspicions repeatedly countered by alibis and interventions from Shinichi's mother or Professor Agasa.

Ran embodies kindness, protectiveness, and emotional resilience. Patient and nurturing, she acts as a caretaker for Conan and manages household responsibilities amid her father's frequent irresponsibility. Her sense of justice mirrors Shinichi's idealism; she avoids pressuring him about his absence, trusting his promise to return despite the emotional toll. Yet, she possesses a fiery temper when loved ones are threatened, acting impulsively and unleashing her karate skills. Early jealousy over Shinichi's interactions with other girls diminished as her trust in his fidelity grew. She harbors an intense fear of the supernatural, contrasting with her brave reactions to threats like guns or fires. Unaware of her own attractiveness, she dismisses romantic advances due to her feelings for Shinichi, though she struggles to articulate them.

Her most prominent skill is martial arts proficiency. As a regional karate champion and high school team captain, she holds a black belt, demonstrating exceptional strength, agility, and precision capable of smashing solid objects and neutralizing multiple assailants. She also trained in judo under her father, mastering techniques like his signature one-armed shoulder throw. Her physical prowess extends beyond combat: she possesses remarkable reflexes, dodging bullets and reacting swiftly to falling debris, and exhibits considerable raw strength, such as prying open elevator doors. Additional abilities include fluent English, musical talent in singing and piano, exceptional luck in games of chance, adeptness in domestic tasks like cooking and sewing, and observational skills occasionally aiding case resolutions.

In "The Fist of Blue Sapphire," Ran travels to Singapore with her father and friend Sonoko Suzuki to support world-champion martial artist Makoto Kyogoku in a karate tournament. After Kyogoku's sponsor, Sherilyn Tan, is murdered, Sonoko becomes his replacement sponsor with Ran's encouragement. During the trip, Ran encounters Conan, smuggled into Singapore by Kaito Kid and disguised as "Arthur Hirai," failing to recognize him but interacting briefly. She later witnesses Kyogoku confront Kaito Kid during the thief's attempt to steal the Blue Sapphire; Kid escapes when Conan creates a diversion. Ran's involvement centers on supporting Kyogoku and Sonoko amid escalating chaos involving thefts and bombings.

Ran maintains significant relationships. With Shinichi Kudo, she shares deep mutual affection, though both struggle to confess their feelings. She serves as a maternal figure to Conan Edogawa, overseeing his daily needs despite her suspicions. Her friendship with Sonoko Suzuki involves lighthearted teasing about her relationship with Shinichi. She respects Makoto Kyogoku as a fellow martial artist, collaborating seamlessly with him in physical confrontations. Her dynamic with her parents is marked by concern over their separation and efforts to reunite them, while interactions with her father often involve managing his behavior during investigations.

Visually, Ran is depicted as a fair-skinned adolescent with blue eyes and long brown hair featuring distinctive wavy bangs forming a triangular point. She possesses a slender, athletic build, standing approximately 160 cm tall. Her typical attire includes matching shirts and socks when not in her school uniform.
