Ran Mori becomes entangled in events when Princess Mira Julietta Vespaland, her near-identical double, visits Japan. The princess proposes swapping identities to escape her royal obligations. Ran agrees, leading her to publicly impersonate Mira to avert diplomatic issues. After a press conference, Duke Keith Dan Stinger violates the agreement to return Ran to Japan, instead taking her to the Kingdom of Vespania. Her father, Kogoro Mouri, travels to Vespania with Inspector Zenigata, ostensibly to aid in the pursuit of Lupin III; Conan Edogawa secretly accompanies them. Earlier, Ran had accompanied her friend Sonoko Suzuki to meet Italian pop singer Emilio Baretti at his Tokyo hotel. When Baretti attempted to climb a high structure at Tokyo Sky Tree—aiming to cancel his concert due to its criminal associations—Ran intervened, mistaking his actions for a suicide attempt. She confronted him forcefully. A sudden gust of wind nearly sent both tumbling before Conan, Daisuke Jigen, and Sonoko rescued them. Ran's established traits remain consistent: she demonstrates deep concern for others' safety, exemplified by her protection of Emilio Baretti. Her karate proficiency surfaces earlier when she subdues a fake sommelier attempting to poison Princess Mira. Her physical characteristics—long brown hair, blue eyes, and an athletic build—directly enable the plot point of her resemblance to the princess. Following the resolution of the royal conspiracy in Vespania, Ran is honored alongside her father as a savior of the kingdom. She later appears in a post-credits scene bidding farewell to Emilio Baretti as he departs Japan safely.
