Description
Benton Dusk is a wealthy business magnate, investor, engineer, and inventor, ranked 79th globally in wealth and 16th on Culture Magazine's World's Most Influential People list. He is the younger brother of Philomena Dusk and founded Dusk Industries after leaving AAAnimus Inc., where Philomena took control.
Initially appearing as a mysterious benefactor, Benton recruits Dan Kouzo and the Awesome Ones to help collect Core Cells. His driving goal is ensuring Bakugan powers remain open-source and accessible to all, opposing corporate, governmental, or individual control for proprietary or harmful ends. This puts him in direct conflict with AAAnimus Inc. once his sister exploits Core Cell energy for corporate profit.
While working with the Awesome Ones, Benton hides his past actions, including orchestrating dangerous tests to evaluate the team. This secrecy sparks a rift when revealed, briefly pushing the Awesome Ones towards Philomena. After they realize their mistake, Benton unveils his complete plan: liberating Core Cell energy for global access. He successfully hacks AAAnimus systems to achieve this open-source distribution, overcoming his sister's physical attempt to stop him.
Benton partners with the Aquos-attributed Bakugan Hydranoid. This bond later enables his temporary possession by the malevolent entity Tiko, who uses Hydranoid as a conduit to seize control of Benton's body and enact destructive schemes. Benton regains freedom only after Hydranoid is defeated in battle, severing Tiko's hold.
Following these events, Benton pivots to championing Bakugan battling as a regulated global sport. He establishes and hosts official tournaments, advocating for Bakugan to be used solely for athletic competition. This initiative enforces bans on industrial, commercial, or military Bakugan exploitation, permitting partnerships only with natural brawlers. He positions these tournaments as instruments for fostering worldwide peace and cultural exchange.
After the Tiko incident, Benton continues supporting the Awesome Ones in locating scattered Core Cells, reinforcing his vision of universal Bakugan energy access. Though his role lessens in later story arcs featuring new antagonists, he remains a foundational ally in building the sport's infrastructure and ethical guidelines.
His character evolves from an enigmatic entrepreneur to a repentant strategist post-possession, ultimately dedicating his resources to safeguarding Bakugan-related technology for the public good.
