Description
Jotaro Kujo, son of Sadao Kujo and Holy Kujo Joestar, grandson of Joseph Joestar, and father of Jolyne Cujoh, inherits Japanese roots from his father and half-British, half-Italian heritage from his mother. Introduced as a 17-year-old delinquent in 1987, he displayed a rough exterior marked by verbal disrespect toward his mother and frequent violent altercations, partly stemming from his uncontrolled Stand ability, Star Platinum, which he initially mistook for an evil spirit. When Holy fell critically ill due to Dio Brando's resurgence activating her Stand, Jotaro joined a mission to Egypt to defeat Dio and save her. During this journey, he bonded with allies including Kakyoin, Polnareff, Avdol, and Iggy, though several perished. Confronting Dio, Jotaro unlocked Star Platinum's latent time-stop ability—initially two seconds, later expanding to five—to defeat him, enduring significant trauma from the losses.
By Part 4 in 1999, a 28-year-old Jotaro had matured into a calmer, reserved marine biologist. He traveled to Morioh to investigate Stand incidents tied to Dio's legacy, encountering his grandfather's illegitimate son, Josuke Higashikata. While largely a mentor, Jotaro revealed lingering trauma during battles; he reacted with extreme violence when Yoshikage Kira attacked Koichi Hirose, potentially triggered by memories of Kakyoin's death. He supported Josuke's group in neutralizing threats, reflecting his dedication to protecting others from Stand dangers.
In Part 6 of 2011, Jotaro, now early 40s, faced repercussions for prioritizing safety over family. To shield his wife and daughter from Dio's followers, he remained absent for most of Jolyne's life, fueling her resentment. When Jolyne was wrongfully imprisoned at Green Dolphin Street Penitentiary, Jotaro intervened but was ambushed by Dio's disciple, the priest Enrico Pucci. Pucci's Stand, Whitesnake, extracted Jotaro's Stand and memories as discs, leaving him comatose. During the attack, Jotaro conveyed his love for Jolyne, galvanizing her resolve to save him. After allies recovered his discs, Jotaro rejoined the fight against Pucci at Cape Canaveral. When Pucci evolved his Stand into Made in Heaven, accelerating time for Dio's "Heaven" plan, he hurled knives at Jolyne—mirroring Dio's tactics. Jotaro sacrificed himself by stopping time to shield her, dying at 41. His final act affirmed his commitment to familial protection despite prior failings. Following Pucci's defeat and the universe's reset, an alternate Jolyne named Irene emerged with an implied healthier paternal relationship.
Physically, Jotaro stands 195 cm tall with a muscular build, sharp facial features, and green eyes. His iconic attire includes a visored cap merging with his hair and a long coat with chain accents; color palettes shifted from dark tones in Part 3 to white in Parts 4–5, then detailed dark designs in Part 6. His Stand, Star Platinum, wields superhuman strength, speed, precision, and visual acuity, with time-stop remaining central to his combat efficacy.
