Description
Dragon Shiryu, the Bronze Saint of the Dragon constellation, embodies calm resolve, tactical brilliance, and unshakable devotion to Athena. Mentored by Libra Gold Saint Dohko at Lushan’s Five Old Peaks, he mastered reversing a mineral-laden waterfall to forge his body and Dragon Cloth—adorned with a legendary shield and gauntlet—into entities surpassing diamond hardness. A green-and-white dragon tattoo etched across his back mirrors his vitality, dimming as his Cosmo wanes and vanishing at death’s approach.
During the Galaxian Wars, his fierce duel with Pegasus Seiya forged an unbreakable bond when Seiya revived him from near-fatal wounds. Shiryu repeatedly risked annihilation for comrades, slitting his wrists to revive shattered Cloths and sacrificing his vision to shatter Perseus Algol’s petrifying shield. Though his sight briefly returned after awakening his seventh sense against Cancer Deathmask, it faded anew during clashes with Poseidon’s general Chrysaor Krishna. Wielding the Libra Gold Cloth’s arsenal, he shattered Krishna’s spear and the oceanic pillar, aiding Seiya and Hyoga in resealing Poseidon.
Awakening the eighth sense in the Hades conflict, Shiryu penetrated the Underworld. Bathed in Athena’s blood, his Dragon Cloth ascended to divine-tier Dragon God Cloth in Elysion, empowering him to fell Specters single-handedly, even trios, and deliver Athena’s divine armor to ensure Hades’ downfall. Post-war, he adopted Shoryu and journeyed to the 18th century in *Next Dimension* to aid Athena in lifting Seiya’s curse, heralding his destiny as Libra’s future Gold Saint.
Years later in *Saint Seiya Omega*, wed to Chunli and father to Ryūhō, Shiryu surrendered his Cloth after losing all senses in an undisclosed ordeal. Post-Abzu’s defeat, he reclaimed his prowess and joined the Pallasite war clad in Dohko’s inherited Libra Gold Cloth.
His arsenal spans the Rozan Shōryūha’s torrential force, Excalibur’s severing edge—bestowed by Capricorn Shura—and the self-annihilating Rozan Kōryūha. Though recurrent blindness and mortal wounds plagued him, his indomitable will and strategic genius repeatedly secured Athena’s triumphs.
Shiryu’s journey weaves self-sacrifice, Dohko’s teachings, and evolution from warrior to guide. Through biological son Ryūhō and adoptive heir Shoryu, his legacy endures, uniting Saints across eras.
