Description
Sakura Kinomoto is an energetic, cheerful, and optimistic young Japanese girl living in Tomoeda, known for her catchphrase "Everything will definitely be alright." She is athletic, a trait inherited from her father, enjoys physical education and foods like rice omelets, but dislikes mathematics and ghosts. While generally gentle, she possesses a fierce temper when provoked, often directed at her brother Touya or magical guardian Keroberos. Initially displaying naivety and occasional obliviousness, particularly concerning romantic feelings toward her, she also shows perceptiveness about others' emotions and maintains confidentiality regarding friends' personal matters.

Her family consists of her father Fujitaka Kinomoto, deceased mother Nadeshiko Kinomoto, older brother Touya Kinomoto, and maternal cousin Tomoyo Daidouji. Sakura awakens magical abilities tied to the Clow Cards after accidentally releasing them, becoming the Cardcaptor tasked with their retrieval under Keroberos's guidance. Her powers encompass sealing and utilizing the cards, spiritual awareness, dream foretelling, and precognitive abilities. She later transforms the Clow Cards into Sakura Cards.

Her relationship with Syaoran Li begins as rivalry when he arrives from Hong Kong to claim the Clow Cards, leading to confrontations. Despite his initial coldness, Sakura persists with kindness, fostering friendship. A pivotal shift occurs during an encounter with the Earthy card; Syaoran uses her first name, prompting her to ask to address him as "Syaoran-kun." She remains unaware of his growing romantic feelings until his direct confession after the final battle with Eriol Hiiragizawa. Facing his return to Hong Kong, Sakura realizes her own love and rushes to confess as he departs, securing a mutual commitment. They reunite two years later as a couple, continuing their relationship into the Clear Card arc.

In the short film "Leave it to Kero! Theatrical Version," set after the second movie, Sakura appears in a supporting role. She serves takoyaki to Keroberos and Spinel Sun in her bedroom, displaying her characteristic kindness. She expresses concern when the familiars vanish chasing the last takoyaki ball and returns with more brought by her father, indirectly resolving their conflict through her nurturing nature.

Her development across all media shows growth from a hesitant magical novice to a confident Cardcaptor and young woman understanding love, navigating friendships, familial bonds, romantic feelings, and balancing magical responsibilities with everyday life.
