Totaro Toraya is an unsuccessful comedian whose only claim to fame came from the work of his former partner. His stagnant life takes an unexpected turn when he encounters a mysterious woman named Tayuta. She approaches him with a friendly demeanor and introduces him to her deep passion for tanka, a traditional form of Japanese poetry composed of exactly thirty-one syllables. Through his connection with Tayuta, Totaro discovers that these compact poems possess an extraordinary power, functioning as spells capable of altering reality and overturning the world around him. This tanka comedy follows Totaro as his destiny begins to change dramatically when he learns to wield the power of these thirty-one character incantations. The story unfolds in a contemporary Japanese setting where the ancient art of poetry collides with modern life. The narrative spans four volumes, beginning with Totaro's chance meeting with Tayuta and progressing through his growth as he masters the poetic spells. The manga ran as a serialized web comic from 2024 on the Comic Days platform, a digital service offering access to Kodansha manga titles, before concluding with its final collected volume released in October 2025.
