Description
Yamamoto Mugi is a 30-year-old otaku whose devotion to her idol takes priority over everything, including her anniversary date. This choice leads her boyfriend to end their four-year relationship, a future Mugi had assumed would end in marriage. Reeling from the loss and the blunt realization that she has been self-centered, Mugi is approached by her high school friend Tomoyo. Tomoyo, a social media influencer, does not simply offer comfort but challenges Mugi to reconsider how she relates to others. Instead, she proposes a more tangible solution: co-managing a shared house together.
The story follows Mugi and Tomoyo as they recruit additional housemates, including Tomoyo’s online followers and Mugi’s fellow otaku friends. Their goal is to create a living space where young women can support each other without sacrificing their independence. This premise establishes the setting as the evolving shared house, a space where the mundane challenges of communal living become the core of the narrative. The central conflict revolves around Mugi’s struggle to define her identity on her own terms. After years of drifting toward a conventional future of marriage, she is forced to decide what she truly wants, while also learning to be a reliable and considerate housemate.
Individual narrative arcs explore these themes through the lives of the residents. One plotline follows one of the women who receives a marriage proposal, only to discover her partner possesses a morally harassing nature, forcing her to confront a difficult choice. The series follows the group as they navigate the logistics of finding reliable people to live with and managing the small conflicts and compromises of daily life. It is a share-life comedy that portrays a sisterhood of women building their ideal home and learning to lead lives where their passions and personal well-being are equally valued.
