Description
Mochizuki-san presents a perfectly ordinary and gentle demeanor as a 21-year-old office worker in sales administration. However, this calm exterior hides a singular and intense pursuit of happiness: dokagui, or extreme binge-eating. Her joy comes from consuming massive, piled-high portions of rich, high-calorie food in a short period, an act she calls "itaru". This process of rapidly spiking her blood sugar sends her into a state of guilty, paramount bliss, offering a secret escape from the stresses of her daily work life.

The story is a food comedy set primarily within the mundane yet cozy environments of Mochizuki-san’s office and her home. The narrative finds humor in the stark contrast between her quiet, unassuming personality as a sales assistant and the ferocious, almost desperate energy she displays when giving in to her cravings. Plot points often revolve around her attempting to conceal her "dokagui" habit from colleagues, only to be discovered after a particularly intense session leaves her passed out in the break room. Other arcs see her struggling to fast before a health check-up, using her imagination to turn glasses of water and tea into a bowl of curry to stave off hunger, and then celebrating the exam’s end with a mountain of real curry.

Notable narrative arcs center on the creative lengths she goes to for her private feasts. One early chapter describes her making a giant omelet rice immediately after a bath, wearing only a towel because she could not spare the time to get dressed. In another instance, she competes with a stranger over the last discounted Christmas cake, sprinting with cheetah-like speed, showcasing that her appetite can turn even a trip to the convenience store into a high-stakes event. The series is a pure, gag-driven celebration of food and personal pleasure, consistently emphasizing that these extreme methods of stress relief are a dangerous fantasy not to be imitated in real life. Maruyono Kamome’s detailed artwork brings the lavish meals and Mochizuki-san’s expressive reactions to the forefront, transforming each eating sequence into a visual spectacle. The series premiered on Young Animal Web in May 2024 and quickly gained popularity on social media, leading to an increased publication schedule and achieving over 700,000 copies in print for its first two volumes.
