Description
In her middle school years, Shirayuki Yume was deeply absorbed in a fantasy romance with her idealised imaginary boyfriends, or "dream boyfriends," whose characteristics, personalities, and relationships she meticulously recorded in a notebook. As an adult in her thirties, Yume has long since left this adolescent hobby behind, leading a quiet, uneventful life as an ordinary office worker. One day, however, four of the fictional boys from her old notebook mysteriously manifest in the real world and appear at her doorstep, refusing to leave. Suddenly thrust into a chaotic cohabitation with the living incarnations of her teenage fantasies, Yume must navigate the absurd situations that arise as each dream boyfriend pursues her attention in his own distinct way. The four dream boyfriends include Kairi, whose creation was directly inspired by Yume's first love, a classmate named Banri whom she has never forgotten. As Yume struggles to keep her black history under wraps, the sudden reappearance of the real Banri in her life further complicates matters, forcing her to confront unresolved feelings from the past. The story blends romantic comedy with surreal elements as the dream boyfriends gain depth beyond their original designs, and Yume learns to balance her mundane reality with the bizarre, heartfelt affections of her fictional creations. The series concludes after a period of dramatic and comedic growth, with the conclusion of the chaotic triangular complications and Yume's final choice regarding her heart.
