Description
Francesca Calvino is the teenage daughter of a powerful mafia family in a fantasy world where five major crime syndicates secretly support the monarchy. She is also the reincarnation of a Japanese teenager who was the granddaughter of a yakuza boss. In her previous life she was isolated and friendless, passing the time by playing an otome game whose protagonist was also named Francesca. After dying in an assassination, she wakes up inside that very game, now living as its heroine.
Determined to avoid another life trapped in the criminal underworld, Francesca remembers the game’s plot and sets out to change it. Her first goal is to break off her engagement with Leonardo Aldini, the young head of the Aldini family and the game’s main villain—a cruel, manipulative boy destined to become the story’s ultimate antagonist. But her attempts to push him away backfire. When the game’s opening event, a kidnapping orchestrated by a rival family, occurs, Francesca uses her street-smart courage and knowledge of the game to escape on her own, impressing Leonardo instead of needing rescue. His interest in her shifts from indifference to relentless fascination.
Now Leonardo refuses to release her from their engagement, showering her with possessive attention and declarations of love that she does not trust. Francesca’s efforts to lead a peaceful, ordinary life—making friends at school, staying out of mafia affairs—are constantly complicated by her own involvement in the underworld and by Leonardo’s insistence on keeping her close. Her background gives her an unflappable nerve and a pragmatic streak that sets her apart from the other noble girls, and she gradually finds herself drawn into the very power struggles she wanted to escape.
The story unfolds as a dangerous love game between a former yakuza heiress and the top-ranked villain, blending romance with mafia politics, magic, and the heroine’s struggle to forge her own path while the plot she knows refuses to stay on the rails.
