Description
Riko, an ordinary office worker, one day wanders onto the rooftop of a home center and witnesses a women's pro wrestling show. She is instantly captivated by the fiery performance of a heel wrestler named Mask de Maiden. Her initial fangirling quickly transforms into a desire to step onto the ring herself—she decides to quit her job and become a professional wrestler. Riko joins the same promotion as a trainee, determined to one day form a tag team with her idol.
Mask de Maiden is actually the ring persona of a shy, timid young woman named Meiko, who adopted the mask to hide her weak and anxious nature. Riko, unaware of this, eventually discovers Meiko’s secret identity after a series of comedic and awkward encounters. As Riko trains alongside fellow recruits Ono and Okuyama, she struggles with the physical demands of wrestling while navigating her deepening feelings for Meiko, both as a fan and as a friend.
The story follows Riko’s journey from a clueless enthusiast to a legitimate wrestler, supported by the promotion’s gruff producer Umekichi and guided by a reluctant Meiko. Tensions arise with the rival heel unit VdC, led by the abrasive Kōhaku, and with the return of Meiko’s former tag partner Arashi, who challenges Riko’s place in the promotion. Through trials, injuries, and emotional growing pains, Riko learns what it truly means to love wrestling and to stand beside the person she once only admired from the crowd. The series balances comedy with sincere character development, culminating in Riko’s eventual debut and the evolving relationship between her and Meiko.
