After repeated failures on dating apps, 35-year-old salaryman Kamoi Kousaku has grown emotionally exhausted. On a whim, he steps into a mysterious antique shop called Garakuta Garando, an establishment filled with seemingly worthless items. There he meets Yomi, the shop’s beautiful owner. Though she projects an enigmatic, sophisticated aura, Yomi is in fact a penniless shopkeeper who aggressively forces overpriced junk onto her customers. Kousaku becomes her favorite mark, paying exorbitant sums for trinkets while also using the shop as an outlet for his frustrations. As he keeps returning, he encounters a parade of outrageous women, including a frustrated, alcoholic housewife and a clingy younger girl with a brother complex. The series follows Kousaku’s hapless efforts to find romantic happiness while being taken advantage of time and again, and Yomi’s chaotic sales tactics. Over the course of the story, Garakuta Garando becomes a strange refuge for Kousaku. The narrative culminates when Kousaku arrives to find a “tenant wanted” sign on the door, forcing him to confront what the shop and Yomi have truly meant to him. The comedy ends on a reflective note as the seasons cycle back to snow, and a sudden farewell arrives.
