Description
High schooler Arazome Momiji pours her energy and savings into the online game Himekami Yaoyorozu, posting daily fan art on social media to promote her beloved character Hanako-ko. When the servers suddenly shut down, she is devastated. Wandering aimlessly, she stumbles upon a dilapidated shrine and prays to become a god-tier illustrator. Her wish is answered by a self-proclaimed goddess named Tsubaki (艶葉木比売), who bears an uncanny resemblance to Momiji’s favorite character. Tsubaki has lost nearly all her divine power because modern people no longer worship her. Recognizing Momiji’s artistic talent and passion, she proposes a deal: Momiji will use her fan-art skills to help restore Tsubaki’s faith and revitalize the shrine. What follows is a comedic and supernatural tale of “oshi-katsu” (fan devotion) as Momiji draws promotional illustrations, creates merchandise, and even collaborates with a divine cosplayer, all while navigating the chaos of living with a needy goddess. Through their efforts, the forgotten shrine gradually becomes a “moe shrine” attraction, drawing visitors and laughter in equal measure. The story blends online fandom culture with Japanese folklore, exploring themes of creativity, belief, and the bonds formed through shared passion.
