Ed Belo was a prominent Filipino voice actor best known for his extensive work in the Tagalog dubbing of anime and tokusatsu series for several decades. Born Eduardo Reyno Belo on May 29, 1960, in Makati, Philippines, he passed away on October 22, 2019. He is considered a pioneering figure in the local voice acting industry, with a career that spanned from the 1980s until his death.
Belo's voice acting career began in the live-action tokusatsu genre, where he gained recognition as the original Tagalog voice of Retsu Ichijouji, the main protagonist in the dub of Space Sheriff Gavan. He quickly became a staple voice for Filipino-dubbed anime, lending his distinct, often high-pitched and husky tone to a wide array of characters. His versatility allowed him to portray a broad spectrum of roles, from comedic and youthful characters to authoritative and elderly figures. He was the voice of Gai in Tenkū Senki Shurato and took on multiple characters in Kinkyuu Hasshin Saver Kids, including the role of Matsogoruo. For the series Shutsugeki! Machine Robo Rescue, he voiced the characters Brad Bitou and Musashi Miyajima in the GMA Network dub.
