Garcia Júnior is a renowned Brazilian voice actor, translator, and dubbing director with a prolific career that began in childhood and spans over four decades. He is widely recognized for his work in dubbing animated series and films for the Brazilian market, including a vast array of roles in anime and Western animation.
Born Manoel Garcia Júnior in São Paulo on March 2, 1967, he is the son of pioneering voice actors Garcia Neto and Dolores Machado, which placed him in the dubbing environment from a very young age. His own career started in 1977 at the age of ten at the BKS studio, where he famously took over the role of Woody Woodpecker. In 1982, he moved with his family to Rio de Janeiro, working at major studios like Herbert Richers, Telecine, and VTI Rio. A career-defining moment came in 1985 when he became the voice of the title character in He-Man. Beyond his on-screen work, Garcia Júnior held the prominent position of Creative Director for Disney Character Voices International in Brazil for 17 years, from 1994 to 2011, where he oversaw the dubbing of numerous Disney productions.
His extensive voice acting portfolio includes several notable anime roles. He voices King Gazel Dwargo in the popular series That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, including its spin-off, The Slime Diaries. He is also the voice of Roy Focker in the Brazilian dubs of The Super Dimension Fortress Macross and its U.S.-adapted version, Robotech. Additionally, his work encompasses the role of Príncipe Amat in a new dub of the classic film Alakazam the Great. His other significant contributions to anime include lending his voice to Enel in One Piece and One Piece: Episode of Skypiea, Omokage in Hunter x Hunter: Phantom Rouge, Kuraha in Noragami and Noragami Aragoto, and Rei Arnold Von Alceria in I Got a Cheat Skill in Another World. He has also voiced characters in series such as Dragon Goes House-Hunting, Vinland Saga (as the narrator for the Crunchyroll dub), and Groizer X.
Beyond anime, Garcia Júnior is celebrated as the official Brazilian voice of actor Arnold Schwarzenegger in most of his films and for dubbing James Bond in the Daniel Craig era. His work in Western animation is equally iconic, with roles such as Simba in The Lion King, the Beast and Gaston in Beauty and the Beast, Prince Eric in The Little Mermaid, and the Genie in The Smurfs. In live-action, he is known as the voice of Richard Dean Anderson in MacGyver and William Shatner as Captain Kirk in the second dubbing of the classic Star Trek series.
Throughout his career, Garcia Júnior has also been recognized for his work behind the scenes.
