Katsue Miwa was a Japanese voice actress born on October 12, 1943, in Osaka Prefecture. She began her career in 1960 and was active in the industry until her passing on June 19, 2024, at the age of 80. Throughout her extensive career, she was affiliated with the talent management firm Aoni Production.

As a child, Miwa moved to Tokyo's Minato Ward at the age of four. She was an active member of the NHK Tokyo Children's Theater and gained early attention for her performance in the puppet drama The Three Little Pigs. She later graduated from Kokugakuin University with a degree in Japanese Literature.

Miwa was renowned for voicing a wide array of iconic and long-running characters, particularly young boys and animal characters, in numerous anime series and films from the 1960s through the 2020s. Her most defining role was as Mitsuo Suwa, the protagonist and Perman No. 1, in the various adaptations of the Perman series, a character she played across multiple decades. Another signature role was as the voice of the titular character in the 1974 anime Calimero. She also brought life to Unico in The Fantastic Adventures of Unico and Unico in the Island of Magic.

Her filmography includes a vast number of other significant and recurring roles. She voiced Hiroshi Ichikawa in the Kaibutsu-kun series and its films. In the Obake no Q-Taro franchise, she played the role of Sho-chan. She was the voice of Asari Hamano in Asari-chan and its related film Mr. Pen Pen. Other notable credits include Miki Rando in Acrobunch, Olga in Phoenix 2772 - Space Firebird, Shōshō Akatsuka in Himitsu no Akko-chan, Kayoko Nakane in Ushiro no Shōmen Daare, and Mokuba Kaiba in the 1998 anime adaptation of Yu-Gi-Oh!. In her later years, she continued to take on roles such as Lil in One Piece and the Witch in the Gegege no Kitarō film Yōkai Daisensō.

Beyond anime, Miwa's work extended to video games, where she voiced characters like Watson Livingston in Battle Fantasia and performed for the Pop'n Music series. She was also active in foreign dubbing, providing the Japanese voice for characters such as Woody Woodpecker and Veruca Salt in a Japanese broadcast edition of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Her distinctive voice was also featured in numerous television commercials in Japan. Katsue Miwa passed away from a pulmonary embolism, leaving behind a legacy as one of the most beloved and enduring voices in Japanese animation.
