Tetsu Shiratori
Description
Tetsu Shiratori is a Japanese voice actor and film director born on March 21, 1972, in Tokyo. He is affiliated with the talent management firm Osawa Office. His career began in stage acting with the Bungakuza theater company in 1993, and he made his voice acting debut in 1998 as the character Yuu Isami in the television anime series Brain Powerd. He transitioned to his current agency in November 2006.
Shiratori has built a career portraying a wide range of characters, from thoughtful young men to eccentric personalities and villains. Among his most recognized roles is the eccentric scientist Lloyd Asplund, the developer of the Lancelot Knightmare frame, in the popular anime series Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion and its sequel film, Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection. Another significant role is Sai Argyle in Mobile Suit Gundam SEED. He also voiced Gluttony in the first Fullmetal Alchemist anime adaptation and its sequel, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, as well as Kane Fury in the same franchise. In the Armored Trooper Votoms franchise, he provided the voice for the character Shiraf in the 2010 film Armored Trooper Votoms: Case;Irvine. His other notable anime credits include roles in The Irresponsible Captain Tylor, Infinite Ryvius, s-CRY-ed, and Fairy Tail.
Beyond voice acting, Shiratori is also an accomplished film director, an interest he has pursued since making 8mm films in elementary school. His feature film Stone Age received critical recognition, placing in the top ten of a Pia magazine reader vote and ranking nineteenth in the Best Cinema Awards for the first half of 2006; it was also screened in Hollywood. His documentary work has earned awards, including the Grand Prize at the Manhattan International Film Festival for his film Prayer.
