Detlef Bierstedt is a German actor and voice actor, born on June 10, 1952, in Berlin. He trained at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in East Berlin from 1973 to 1976 and began his career on the stage, with engagements at theaters in Potsdam and East Berlin, as well as roles in DEFA film and television productions. Following his move to West Germany in 1985, he continued to take on guest roles in television series while his voice acting career became increasingly prominent.
Bierstedt is widely recognized for his extensive work in dubbing, providing the German voice for numerous international stars, including George Clooney, Bill Pullman, John C. Reilly, Stellan Skarsgård, and Jonathan Frakes. His voice is also familiar from animated series such as American Dad!, where he has voiced Stan Smith since 2006.
Within the realm of anime, Bierstedt has lent his voice to a wide array of characters across many popular series and films. His credits include the role of Johnny Rico in Starship Troopers: Invasion, Commander Lance in Appleseed: Ex Machina, and Sawada in the OVA series Karas.
