Description
Kyōsuke Tsurumaki and Kai Amano were two young musicians and partners in a rising duo named Kanitama, on the verge of their major debut. Their momentum was shattered when Kai was killed in a traffic accident. Overcome by grief, Kyōsuke abandoned music entirely and retreated into a listless existence as a freeter, living without direction or purpose.
Three years after the accident, Kai suddenly reappears before Kyōsuke, seemingly just as he was in life: energetic, blunt, and passionate about music. He confronts Kyōsuke with a simple truth: to remain still and do nothing is the same as being dead. Kai’s unexpected return and forceful encouragement persuade Kyōsuke to pick up his instrument again and face the world of music once more. As the two former partners reunite to create sound together, Kyōsuke rediscovers the joy that music once brought him. However, their renewed happiness is shadowed by an underlying fragility, as the story suggests that this second chance may not last forever.
The narrative centers on Kyōsuke Tsurumaki, a twenty-two-year-old who has become disillusioned with life after losing his musical partner and best friend. Kai Amano is the catalyst for the story, whose return from death is as mysterious as it is motivating. The setting blends contemporary life with an unexplained supernatural occurrence, focusing on the emotional and creative space the two young men inhabit as they attempt to rebuild their musical bond. The series explores themes of grief, artistic passion, and the lingering connections that persist beyond loss. It falls within the drama and music genres, emphasizing the therapeutic and expressive power of musical creation. An anime television series adaptation has been announced, with the cast from the drama CD, including Kent Itō as Kyōsuke and Daisuke Sakuma as Kai, set to reprise their roles.
