The story follows the daily lives of the Amusement Club at Nanamori Middle School, a group with no real purpose other than to occupy the old Tea Ceremony Club room and enjoy each other's company. The club consists of the energetic and impulsive Kyouko Toshinou, the calm and level-headed Yui Funami, the sweet but often overlooked Akari Akaza, and the seemingly innocent yet secretly intense Chinatsu Yoshikawa. They are frequently joined by members of the student council, including the tsundere Ayano Sugiura, who has a crush on Kyouko, the yuri-fantasizing Chitose Ikeda, and the bickering pair Sakurako Oomuro and Himawari Furutani.

In the OVA titled Yuru Yuri Nachuyachumi!, the focus shifts to summer vacation. The girls embark on a camping trip, trading their usual clubroom for the great outdoors. The group spends their time together engaging in typical summer activities such as setting up tents, preparing curry over a camp stove, and participating in a test of courage. A later OVA, Yuru Yuri Ten, was released to commemorate the manga's tenth anniversary. In this installment, the Amusement Club decides to celebrate the occasion by throwing a party in their clubroom. The members, along with the student council, work together on preparations, including decorating the room and baking cookies. The central arc of this OVA focuses on the planning and execution of the party, culminating in a fun-filled celebration with games. A key plot point reveals that the party also serves as a surprise birthday celebration for Akari, marking a rare moment where the often-forgotten protagonist receives significant attention and heartfelt acknowledgment from her friends.
