Description
"Tari Tari" is a 13-episode anime series set in a high school in modern-day Japan, focusing on a group of students navigating personal challenges while reviving their school's choir club. The story centers on Wakana Sakai, a former member of the choir club who withdraws after a personal conflict with her music teacher. Wakana's passion for music is reignited when she meets Konatsu Miyamoto, an energetic and determined classmate who dreams of forming a new choir club. Despite initial reluctance, Wakana joins Konatsu, along with Sawa Okita, a talented equestrian with aspirations of studying abroad, and Taichi Tanaka, a laid-back badminton player with a hidden musical talent.
The group faces obstacles such as limited resources, school bureaucracy, and personal insecurities. Their efforts to organize a performance for the school festival are complicated by the arrival of Wien, an Austrian exchange student with a mysterious past and a deep love for music. As the students work together, they confront their individual struggles: Wakana grapples with her unresolved feelings about her late mother, a renowned koto player, and her strained relationship with her father. Konatsu struggles with self-doubt and the pressure to prove herself as a leader. Sawa faces resistance from her father regarding her equestrian ambitions, while Taichi deals with the expectations placed on him by his family. Wien, meanwhile, seeks to reconnect with his own musical roots.
The narrative balances lighthearted moments of camaraderie and humor with poignant explorations of grief, ambition, and self-discovery. The choir club becomes a catalyst for personal growth, as the characters learn to support one another and confront their fears. The series culminates in a heartfelt performance at the school festival, symbolizing their collective journey and newfound resilience. Through its focus on music, friendship, and perseverance, "Tari Tari" offers a relatable and emotionally resonant portrayal of adolescence.
