Description
Creed Diskenth is a primary antagonist from the manga and anime Black Cat, known for his profound obsession with the protagonist, Train Heartnet, and his pursuit of a world reshaped in his own image. A former top-tier assassin for the secret organization Chronos, Creed is a young man of 23 years with a striking appearance. He has long, remote silver-white hair and pale, almost deathly skin. His eyes are typically depicted as blue in the manga and purple in the anime.

Creed's personality is a volatile mixture of refined charisma and profound insanity. He is a bloodthirsty murderer who kills as naturally as he breathes, showing no hesitation to slay even his own followers should they displease him. This brutality stems from a childhood of intense abuse at the hands of his alcoholic mother and a life of destitution on the streets, where he was beaten by police, all of which drove him to a fierce hatred of the world. Despite his savagery, he is often calm, courteous, and enjoys luxury, but has an extremely short temper, prone to violent rages. He is a megalomaniac and a narcissist, convinced of his own superiority and believing himself to be the only one who is right. He despises what he calls "stupid humans" and "weaklings," and his ultimate motivation is to purge the world of the worthless, creating an ideal world named Eden where only the talented who follow his leadership may live. In this new world, he would reign as a god, a goal he seeks to cement by achieving immortality.

In the story, Creed's role is that of the driving force behind much of the conflict. Initially a candidate to become one of Chronos's elite Numbers, he was deemed too unstable and was passed over. He eventually defected from Chronos, killing one of its members in the process, and formed his own terrorist organization, the Apostles of the Stars, recruiting followers who wield the mysterious power of Tao. His central fixation is Train Heartnet, his former partner. During their time together at Chronos, Creed was captivated not only by Train's immense skill but also by his hatred for the world, seeing in Train a kindred spirit and the only one worthy of standing by his side. When the bounty hunter Saya Minatsuki befriended Train and began softening his cold heart, Creed saw her as a "witch" making Train weak. To "lift the spell," he murdered her, an act that set Train on a path of revenge and forms the core of their antagonistic relationship.

Creed's key relationships are defined by this obsession. He views Train as his only equal and wishes for him to rule Eden by his side, refusing to accept Train's rejection of this vision. He utterly despised Saya for changing Train and sees Chronos's elders as fools who cannot comprehend his truth. Despite his narcissism, he is a charismatic leader who managed to gather followers like the Tao Masters Shiki and Maro, and the healer Doctor, though he ultimately regards them as pawns. His development sees him descending further into madness as Train continues to reject him, culminating in a final battle where he has fused with his Tao power and been injected with regenerative nanomachines, making him nearly immortal before his ultimate defeat.

Creed's notable abilities make him a formidable threat. Even before acquiring Tao, he was a swordsman of incredible proficiency. His primary power, gained through Tao, is the Imagine Blade. He manifests this blade from the hilt of his broken katana, Kotetsu. The Imagine Blade has several levels: Level 1 is an invisible and incredibly sharp blade that can extend up to 80 meters. Level 2 takes the form of a large, semi-sentient black sword with a face that can bend, twist, and even bite enemies. Level 3 sees Creed fuse with the blade, gaining a demonic arm and a third eye, which vastly increases his speed and strength. In addition to his sword, he is injected with nanomachines that grant him superhuman regeneration, allowing him to recover from fatal wounds in seconds, effectively making him immortal as long as his brain remains intact.
