Ran Mouri, also called Rachel Moore in English dubs, is a central character in the Detective Conan franchise, appearing in the film *The Bride of Halloween*. She is the daughter of private detective Kogoro Mouri and lawyer Eri Kisaki; their separation when she was seven motivated her goal to reunite them. Ran met Shinichi Kudo in kindergarten. At age six, they investigated a monster rumor at Teitan Elementary, encountering an individual who influenced their connection to mysteries. A year before the series, during a New York trip where she witnessed Shinichi solve his first case, she encountered Vermouth disguised as a serial killer. Ran saved Vermouth from falling, earning the nickname "Angel" and solidifying her romantic feelings for Shinichi. After Shinichi's disappearance, she took in Conan Edogawa as a surrogate younger brother at Professor Agasa's request. She periodically suspects Conan's identity, leading him to devise alibis. Ran displays profound empathy, patience, and protectiveness toward loved ones, coupled with fierce aggression when angered—often leveraging her karate skills against threats. She highly values justice, exemplified when shielding a hostage-taker from police snipers. Despite her combat prowess, an irrational fear of the supernatural renders her ineffective in horror scenarios. Self-sufficient, she manages household finances, cooking, and cleaning due to her father's irresponsibility, often greeting clients at his agency. Physically, Ran has fair skin, bluish-purple eyes, and long dark brown hair with triangular bangs. She stands 160–165 cm tall with a slender, athletic build. Her attractiveness draws romantic attention, but she remains oblivious due to her unwavering feelings for Shinichi. His absence causes her emotional pain, yet she waits for him, trusting his promise to return. Her abilities include exceptional martial arts proficiency as a black belt and captain of Teitan High's karate club, with regional championship wins. She combines strength and agility to smash solid objects and swiftly neutralize attackers. Her reflexes allow dodging bullets and falling debris. She also demonstrates skill in household management, singing, piano, and English, alongside uncanny luck in games of chance. Her observational skills and memory aid investigations, though she has solved only three cases independently. In *The Bride of Halloween*, Ran attends a simulated wedding at Shibuya Hikarie during Halloween festivities. A police drill involving Takagi and Sato triggers her traumatic memories of Sato's late boyfriend, Jinpei Matsuda, who died in a bombing. She witnesses bombing incidents that injure Kogoro and Haibara and participates in Halloween activities with the Detective Boys. Her presence contributes to the film's exploration of sacrifice and justice without driving the central mystery. Ran occasionally engages in side narratives, such as being scouted as a model for a painter. In one instance, she survives an attack by the painter's assistant, disarming her with karate. Her regional karate championship win led Shinichi to fulfill a promise to take her to Tropical Land, where his transformation into Conan occurred.
