Description
Franky, originally named Cutty Flam, serves as the cyborg shipwright for the Straw Hat Pirates. Abandoned by his pirate parents in the South Blue at age ten, he washed ashore on Scrap Island. His innate talent for invention attracted legendary shipwright Tom, who took him as an apprentice in Water 7. There, Franky honed his shipbuilding skills and developed warships called "Battle Franky" to fight Sea Kings. Framed by CP5 agent Spandam, Franky inadvertently caused Tom's arrest. A failed rescue attempt resulted in Franky suffering crushing injuries from the Puffing Tom train, compelling him to rebuild himself into a cyborg using scrap metal. At Iceburg's urging, he permanently adopted the name "Franky" to conceal his identity.

Four years later, Franky founded the Franky Family, a crew of ship dismantlers and bounty hunters operating in Water 7's underworld. He stole from pirates to finance his dream of acquiring Adam Wood, the world's strongest timber. This led to conflict with the Straw Hat Pirates after his family stole money from Usopp. Following initial hostilities, Franky allied with the crew during the Enies Lobby incident to rescue Nico Robin. He burned the ancient weapon Pluton's blueprints, entrusted to him by Tom, to prevent their misuse by the World Government. Recognizing shared ideals, Franky constructed the Thousand Sunny from Adam Wood and joined the Straw Hats as their shipwright to achieve his dream of sailing a ship he built around the world.

Franky's body features extensive mechanical augmentation powered by cola, fueling his weapons. Visible cybernetics enhance his forearms, shoulders, and torso, including studded hands, ball-and-socket joints, and internal refrigerators storing cola bottles. Key combat abilities encompass the Radical Beam laser (mastered during timeskip training), Coup de Vent cola-powered air blasts, and extendable limbs. His unmodified back remains a vulnerability. Post-timeskip upgrades using Dr. Vegapunk's blueprints increased his durability and versatility, adding features like hairstyle manipulation via a nose button and BF-37 shoulder markings. He also designed and pilots the General Franky, a combined form of his vehicles.

Personality-wise, Franky displays a flamboyant, eccentric demeanor, frequently striking dynamic poses and exclaiming "SUPER!" He exhibits emotional vulnerability, often weeping openly at sad tales. Despite his brash exterior, he acts as a protective older brother figure to younger crewmates. His perverse tendencies include a preference for swim briefs and open Hawaiian shirts, which facilitate quick access to his weapons. He dislikes restrictive clothing and avoids covering his back for tactical reasons.

In "One Piece 3D: Straw Hat Chase," Franky pilots the Thousand Sunny during the crew's pursuit of Luffy's stolen hat. He shows concern for Chopper's safety during a rampage state and employs cola-powered weaponry like Coup de Vent against obstacles. His navigational skills and mechanical expertise aid the crew's chase through marine blockades and sea king-infested waters.

Franky's current bounty is 394,000,000, reflecting actions during the Raid on Onigashima. His favorite color is light blue, and his birthday is March 9, shared with Shanks and Dracule Mihawk. Though lacking Devil Fruit powers, creator Eiichiro Oda stated Franky would possess the Buki Buki no Mi (Arms-Arms Fruit) if applicable. He stores tools in his swim briefs and prefers hamburgers, french fries, and cola.
