Description
Charon is a major antagonist in the series, serving as the personal bodyguard and protector of Haumea, the Second Pillar. He is a physically imposing figure, a massive and muscular man standing 202 centimeters tall. He is 28 years old and was born on June 22. Charon is a high-ranking member of the White-Clad, a cult that follows the Evangelist, and he is deeply devoted to their cause.

In terms of personality, Charon is a talkative individual who has a compulsive habit of bombarding his interlocutors with questions, even his enemies, often demanding rapid responses. This interrogative nature can make him seem impatient and overbearing, yet it also lends him a strangely curious and attentive quality. On the battlefield, he displays confidence and cunning, often mocking his foes for their weakness while genuinely enjoying the conflict. Despite his menacing presence, his primary and unwavering loyalty is to Haumea, whom he has looked after since her toddlerhood. He is extremely protective of her, and other characters note that their dynamic resembles that of a father and daughter. He is empathetic to the constant suffering and violent outbursts caused by her Adolla Link, and his service to the White-Clad is partly fueled by the hope that the Evangelist will end her pain. This unconditional love extends to his discomfort when she is in distress and his inability to argue with her effectively. His sense of duty as a protector also extends to other Pillars, regardless of whether they are his direct charges or even his enemies, as he views their safety as a core part of his purpose.

Charon is initially mistaken for a Third Generation pyrokinetic due to the flashy and explosive nature of his fighting style, which he uses as a bluff to mislead opponents. In truth, he is a powerful Second Generation pyrokinetic, often called the Counter Man. His unique ability allows him to absorb and accumulate kinetic energy from any external physical attack made against him and convert it into thermal energy. He can then release this stored power as massive, devastating explosions. This ability provides him with a formidable defense that neutralizes incoming strikes while simultaneously fueling a powerful offense, leaving him with almost no openings in direct combat. The harder an opponent hits him, the more energy he can stockpile to turn back against them. In melee combat, his raw strength is terrifying; his blows are powerful enough to destroy a human body with minimal effort and leave craters in the ground.

Throughout the story, Charon operates as Haumea's guardian, frequently appearing alongside her as both muscle and shield. He plays a key role in the White-Clad's efforts to secure the Pillars, such as when he tracks the Fifth Pillar, Inca, and engages Shinra Kusakabe, whom he mockingly calls fire rat. During their fight, he overwhelms Shinra until his ability is understood. He is also crucial in the battle for the Sixth Pillar, Nataku Son, where he absorbs a city-leveling explosive blast from Nataku and redirects it safely into space. While he primarily serves Haumea, he shows respect for other powerful protectors, acknowledging Kurono as a worthy guardian of the Sixth Pillar even when it means the White-Clad loses control of the situation. In a later massive battle involving Amaterasu, Charon confronts Ogun Montgomery, overwhelming him, and withstands sustained fire from Takehisa Hinawa's rifle. In a final exertion of his strength, he redirects a powerful attack toward Dragon, only for it to be deflected back, demonstrating the limits of his power against the most formidable beings in the series.
