At the South Izu town of Iketeru-cho, in the old Soseiji Temple, a stray cat taken in decades ago has lived past thirty years and transformed into a bakeneko, a ghost cat. This creature, named Anzu-chan, has a deceptively cute appearance but the soul of a middle‑aged man, lazy and capricious yet occasionally helpful. He spends his days doing odd jobs around the temple, giving massages, patrolling the river, and drifting through the town’s small events.
