Chie Koujiro

Description
Chie Koujiro is a veteran Japanese voice actress born on October 17, 1960, in Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture. She is currently affiliated with the talent agency 81 Produce, having previously been associated with Mausu Promotion and Production Baobab. Her career, which began in 1984, is distinguished by her unique, high-pitched, and energetic voice, often used to portray young boys, comedic characters, and lively creatures.

Koujiro's path to voice acting was unconventional. Initially self-conscious about her distinctive voice, she worked a local office job after junior college before moving to Tokyo. There, she was drawn to a high-paying job as an event MC, which led her to enroll in the Tokyo Announce Academy to hone her skills. She made her professional debut in 1984 with the anime Chikkun Takkun.

Throughout her extensive career, Koujiro has brought to life a wide array of memorable characters in Japanese animation. She is particularly well-known for her long-running role as Toukichi Mikuni in the popular Bakusō Kyōdai Let's & Go!! franchise, including its sequels WGP and MAX. Other significant anime roles include Tama Q in Knights of Ramune & 40, Momoko in The Brave Fighter of Sun Fighbird, Toma in Mahōjin Guru Guru, and Chisato Ibara in Pretty Rhythm Rainbow Live. Her film work includes roles in acclaimed movies such as My Neighbor Totoro (as Michiko or "Mitch") and Mobile Suit Gundam F91 (as Annamarie Bourget).

In addition to her work in Japanese anime, Koujiro is the official Japanese dubbing voice for several iconic Western characters. Her most notable roles in this field are Lisa Simpson in the long-running series The Simpsons and Percy the Small Engine in Thomas & Friends. This extensive voice work has made her a familiar presence to audiences across different genres and cultures.

Beyond voice acting, Koujiro is also a skilled traditional Japanese dancer, having trained from the age of six in the Hanayanagi school. In 1989, she formed the vocal group "GALLOP" with fellow voice actresses Kazue Ikura and Chika Sakamoto, and the group reunited for a live concert in 2011. She continues to be active in the industry, with recent roles including Yukichi Tokusawa in the 2018 anime adaptation of Puzzle & Dragons.
