Despite Taki’s initial distrust of her demon nature, the two develop a deep bond as they fight together. She is captured by a tentacle demon during a chase and subjected to extreme violence, but Taki defies orders to rescue her. In a vulnerable moment, she confesses her past relationship with a Radical and her reasons for fighting for peace. Their partnership evolves into a romantic relationship, and they later make love in a church after a final confrontation. It is revealed that Makie and Taki were specifically chosen by the Black Guard to be the first couple capable of producing half-human, half-demon offspring, a bond intended to ensure lasting harmony between the realms. After being impregnated by Taki, her demonic powers increase, and she delivers the killing blow to the Radical leader Mr. Shadow.
