Oolong is an anthropomorphic pig with pale pink skin, typically attired in trousers, button-down shirts or vests, and suspenders. He hails from Octagon Village, a community of talking pigs, yet faced expulsion from kindergarten after kidnapping a teacher. He later enrolled in the Southern Shapeshifting Academy, where he bullied classmate Puar and ultimately met expulsion again for stealing a female teacher's underwear. Following this, Oolong secured a mansion near Aru Village through deception, terrorizing villagers by shapeshifting into an ogre to abduct young women; the abducted girls lived comfortably within his residence. His path crossed with Goku and Bulma during their Dragon Ball quest when Goku defeated him in Aru Village. Bulma recruited him for his shapeshifting abilities, coercing him with "PP Candy" that induced stomach pain when triggered by a whistle. Oolong's transformations—capable of forms like a bat, bull, robot, rocket, or Bulma's likeness—last only five minutes, demanding a one-minute cooldown between uses. This limitation, coupled with his cowardice, frequently undermined his utility. During the Emperor Pilaf Saga, he thwarted Pilaf's wish for world domination by using Shenron to wish for "a girl's pair of panties" (rendered as "comfort in a pair of underwear" in some dubs). After the quest, Oolong took residence at Capsule Corporation in West City alongside Bulma, Yamcha, and Puar. His active role diminished over time, shifting towards comic relief. He occasionally displayed perceptiveness, such as recognizing Chi-Chi at the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament when others failed. His consistent traits of cowardice and gluttony persisted; he frequently fled danger and exhibited an enormous appetite, notably during feasts in films like "Broly - The Legendary Super Saiyan". In "Dragon Ball: Yo! The Return of Son Goku and His Friends Return!!", set two years after Kid Buu's defeat, Oolong attended a banquet at Mr. Satan's newly built hotel. When Abo and Kado—remnants of Frieza's forces—attacked, he was among the non-combatants present. As the ensuing battle caused the hotel's collapse, Yamcha shielded Oolong, Puar, and Bulma from falling rubble using the Spirit Ball technique. Oolong observed the conflict passively, consistent with his later-series portrayal as a bystander during major battles.
