Description
Keiichi Morisato, a student at Nekomi Institute of Technology, suffers persistent misfortune in his personal and social life. His luck shifts dramatically after accidentally calling the Goddess Help Line. This summons Belldandy, a first-class goddess tasked with granting one wish. Skeptical but impulsive, Keiichi wishes for "someone like her to stay with him forever," magically binding Belldandy to remain by his side permanently.

Housing regulations force them out of his male-only dormitory. They relocate to an abandoned Buddhist temple, where the caretaker monk witnesses Belldandy's benevolence and permits them to stay indefinitely before departing on a pilgrimage to India. Keiichi's mechanical aptitude surfaces through the university's auto club, where seniors constantly assign him repair jobs. He demonstrates exceptional motorcycle riding skills, stemming from innate talent amplified by Belldandy's ability to communicate with machines.

His relationship with Belldandy evolves from awkward beginnings to deepening affection, though their interactions remain extremely chaste, often marked by blushing over minor contact like hand-holding. Their dynamic is complicated when Belldandy's sisters move in: Urd, a mischievous second-class goddess of the past, who schemes to accelerate their romance, and Skuld, a technically gifted but temperamental goddess of the future, who initially resents Keiichi as a threat to her bond with Belldandy.

Antagonists frequently target his relationship. Demons, like Mara serving Hell's ruler Hild, seek to break his contract to claim Earth. Human rivals include wealthy student Sayoko Mishima, determined to regain her social status by sabotaging him, and her playboy cousin Toshiyuki Aoshima, who pursues Belldandy. His younger sister, Megumi Morisato, later enrolls at the same university, adding familial interactions.

His technical skills sometimes intersect with the supernatural, such as collaborating with Skuld to repair or enhance devices like her robotic creation Banpei-kun, originally programmed to separate him from Belldandy. Across adaptations, he faces tests of his dedication, including losing memories of Belldandy or navigating unstable magical realities.

Later storylines show gradual maturation as he balances university, auto club duties, and temple upkeep while protecting Belldandy from threats. Their bond deepens through shared experiences, like revisiting a closing amusement park, highlighting Keiichi taking greater initiative in their relationship.
