Description
Sanji, born Vinsmoke Sanji, is the third son of the Vinsmoke family, rulers of the Germa Kingdom in the North Blue. His father, Vinsmoke Judge, genetically modified his children prenatally to create emotionless super-soldiers. Sanji's mother, Vinsmoke Sora, ingested a drug to preserve their humanity, resulting in Sanji retaining emotions but lacking his siblings' enhancements. This difference led to severe abuse from his father and brothers, culminating in his imprisonment and eventual escape aided by his sister Reiju. He permanently renounced his royal title and family name.
After fleeing Germa, Sanji worked as a sous-chef aboard the cruise ship Orbit until its attack by the pirate "Red Leg" Zeff. Stranded together on a rock outcrop with minimal food during a storm, Zeff secretly gave Sanji all the rations, surviving by consuming his own leg. This sacrifice profoundly shaped Sanji's values. Rescued and trained by Zeff at the Baratie restaurant, Sanji mastered cooking and developed the Black Leg Style—a kicking-based martial art designed to protect his hands for culinary work.
