Description
Sanji, born Vinsmoke Sanji, serves as cook aboard the Straw Hat Pirates. Hailing from the North Blue, he is the third son of the Vinsmoke family ruling the Germa Kingdom. His father, Vinsmoke Judge, genetically engineered Sanji and his siblings prenatally to become emotionless super-soldiers. His mother, Vinsmoke Sora, consumed an experimental drug to preserve their humanity, which succeeded solely with Sanji – leaving him with emotions but without superhuman abilities. Deemed weak, Sanji suffered abuse from his brothers and imprisonment by his father. His passion for cooking ignited when preparing a meal for his ill mother; though ruined, it elicited her smile. He eventually escaped Germa with sister Reiju's aid, renouncing his family name and royal status.

At age ten, Sanji cooked aboard the cruise liner Orbit. When pirate "Red Leg" Zeff attacked, both vessels sank in a storm. Stranded together on barren rocks with scarce supplies, Zeff saved Sanji. Weeks later, Sanji discovered Zeff had surrendered all food rations to him and amputated his own trapped leg to survive. This forged Sanji's unbreakable vow to never refuse food to anyone in need. Rescued, he trained nine years under Zeff at the Baratie restaurant, mastering culinary arts and developing the "Black Leg" fighting style – exclusively employing kicks to safeguard his cooking hands. Zeff also instilled a rigid chivalric code, forbidding harm to women under any circumstances.

Sanji joined the Straw Hats during the Baratie arc after Monkey D. Luffy witnessed him feed the famished pirate Gin despite Gin's crew posing a threat. His dream is to discover the All Blue, a fabled sea merging fish from every ocean. As crew cook, he fiercely guards his crewmates' nutrition and health, frequently clashing with Luffy over wasted or stolen food. Sanji exhibits extreme chivalry and infatuation toward women, especially Nami, often losing composure in their presence yet steadfastly refusing to fight them, even at personal peril. During the Enies Lobby conflict (revisited in "Episode of Merry"), he declined to battle CP9 agent Kalifa, necessitating Nami's intervention.

In "Episode of Merry," Sanji aided Nico Robin's rescue from CP9. Covertly infiltrating the Puffing Tom train, he located Robin and sabotaged its brakes, enabling the crew's pursuit to Enies Lobby. This exemplifies his recurring role as an independent strategist during critical operations.

Post-timeskip, Sanji trained on Momoiro Island, acquiring techniques like "Sky Walk" (mid-air propulsion via rapid kicks) and "Blue Walk" (high-speed underwater movement). He confronted his past in the Whole Cake Island arc when his family coerced him into a political marriage with Charlotte Pudding. Initially agreeing to protect the Baratie and crew, he rejected the union upon uncovering an assassination plot. Despite enduring trauma, he later saved his family from Big Mom's forces, citing Zeff's teachings. He obtained a Germa Raid Suit augmenting his abilities but destroyed it to sever his lineage. His latent genetic modifications subsequently awakened, granting enhanced durability, regeneration, and pyrokinetic powers. He fused these with Armament Haki to create "Ifrit Jambe."

Sanji wields Observation Haki (sensing presences/intentions) and Armament Haki (combat limb hardening). His bounty history reflects escalating notoriety: 77,000,000 Berries after Enies Lobby; 177,000,000 Berries (with an "Only Alive" stipulation due to Germa interference); 330,000,000 Berries after escaping Whole Cake Island; and 1,032,000,000 Berries post-Wano Country.

His personality balances crisis composure with comedic outbursts, often directed at men or rival Zoro. Profound loyalty drives him to undertake solitary missions for his crew, such as offering his life for Luffy's at Thriller Bark or facing his family in Zou. His character arc culminates in Whole Cake Island, where he overcomes self-doubt stemming from human fragility and embraces an identity separate from his lineage.
